Located in a Kopitiam in Ang Mo Kio again is a another innovative new hawker concept by young generation hawkers. This time, they've chosen western food as their main advance. Riding on the salted egg craze that has since began to die down, they offer down to earth western fast food with a local twist.
The local twist being salted egg or chili crab fish and chips. We had a go at the Best of Both Worlds ($12.90) which is the chili crab and salted egg fish and chips. The fish is covered in a thin batter and fried to a crispy golden brown with are made once ordered for the best results. Fish used is nice and taste sweet which is good. However, i do have to say the sauces were lacking in punch on both ends in that they were both not strong enough to bring out the best of what both sauces should offer. The chili crab sauce which does not have crab is very light tasting and the same can be said of the salted egg sauce. It also did get quite jelat after awhile.
The Hawaiian chicken chop ($7.90) is grilled chicken chop with a slather of cheese, pineapples and tomato sauce piled on top. Chicken is well grilled and the toppings do give a Hawaiian pizza like taste to it and is best had hot.
I did enjoy the options of choosing sides such as the fries, potato salad, onion rings, baked beans and more which are all made hot and taste as it should. Also like the presentation of the food which is very instagram worthy and looks a step above previous Kopitiam westerns.
Overall, good quality fried western fast food can be found here albeit not as hyped about the sauces as media is making it out to be. The queue is really quite long at between 30 - 45 mins depending on what time you arrive.
Verdict: Worth a visit.
