11 Days in Eastern Australia - Sydney Day 5 Part 2

Chinatown - Yok Yor Thai Food Factory

After a truly delicious meal at Quay restaurant, we opted to walk around town for a bit as usual and came acorss this street with lots of hanging bird cages. I'm not sure if this is a satire comment on the life of humans in general now but i found it very fitting. Actually we walked past this street again at 5pm local time and it was an experience we could not forget.
When the clock struck 5, the entire street immediately filled with people coming out from the buildings left, right and centre. To make it even more interesting, all of them were dressed in black business power suits and i immediately had a "matrix" moment. It was so surreal but it was life as usual for the people here. Its amazing.

Come to this street 5 minutes before 5pm on a weekday and wait for your matrix moment.
A little ways off will be Sydney's Chinatown which is filled with, you guessed it, Chinese stores of all shapes and sizes. You can get information to get to Chinatown here.

For dinner, we went with an Asian food choice and this time, its Thai Food for the world.
Yok Yor Thai Food Factory
Address: G06/323 Castlereagh St, Haymarket NSW 2000, Australia
Website: http://www.yokyor.com.au/
Price: AUD 15-30 per head
The place was packed when we arrived at slightly past 615pm and thats usually a good sign. The clientele was predominantly asian but there were locals there as well which is another good sign because i trust Australian taste buds. They know where good food is at and this trip to Sydney only served to solidify that as fact.
Kuay Teaw Rua (AUD 5.90)
This is akin to meatball noodles with soup. The soup has a little heat in a nice meaty broth and is a godsend in cold weather. Meatballs were firm and well seasoned. Comfort food for the soul.
Sator Pad Goong (AUD 18.90)
Petai stir fried with prawns, pork and fresh chili with lime. Its equal bits hot, sweet, slightly pungent and superb with a plate of rice.
Tom Yam Goong (AUD 13.90-19.90)
Seafood tom yum soup with prawns, lemongrass, chili and lime and this is as authentic as can be. Its definitely spicy but so addictive its easy to finish a bowl yourself. Great stuff.

Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with this find and loved the reasonably priced food. Do visit if you're in the area.
Parting shots of a beautiful and delicious part of Australia that i'll return to in a heartbeat. We love you Sydney and we'll be back. #tourismaustralia please call us to sponsor us to come back.
