Jack's place brings many fond memories to me and my family. Its the one place we used to go for all our birthdays and the go to location for western food when Singapore was in the 80's and 90's. Thereafter, many new cuisines have popped up and the multitude of choice meant it would be difficult for repeat visits unless it was really spectacular food.
This was a visit 6 years in the making and that's exactly how long it has been since i last ate at any Jack's place outlet.

Garlic bread and minestrone soup. Soup was strongly flavored and salty while the garlic bread was warm, toasted and crispy.
Caesar salad with breaded cajun chicken($11)
Quite tasty despite appearances. Chicken was breaded well, served hot and complemented the salad.
Curly Truffle fries topped with Parmesan Cheese ($10.80)
Served with a nice truffle fragrance, the smell soon dissipates and you're left with just the fries and parmesan. Fries are coated with a light batter and fried crisp which is quite nice but found it not curly enough.
My New England's Fish and Chips ($14.50)
Lightly battered, the fish fillet retained its sweetness, which is a surprise and it all went well with the tartar sauce. The serving of fries was also very generous.
Jack's Special Fried Rice with Crispy Chicken Cutlet ($12.50)
Fragrant egg fried rice with peas and carrots which was really nice and juicy, crispy chicken cutlet with mesclun salad and sambal chili. Personally find this a great item to order and worth the money.
Slipper Lobster and Chicken Combo ($26)
Nice portion size and tender chicken. Slipper lobster was a little underwhelming though.
BBQ Chicken Steak with Grilled Pineapple ($14.80)
Juicy chicken thighs grilled just right with a nice tangy and sweet BBQ sauce and sweet pineapple makes this a nice albeit pricey selection.
Salted Egg Slipper Lobster and Chicken Combo ($26)
This is similar to the non salted egg option. Small slipper lobster, nice chicken steak. Not so good salted egg sauce as its too starchy and flavors are not strong enough.

Overall, the experience was a nostalgic and good one. We didn't get any beef items this round but i can say that we might return to try it one day. Food still ranges from ok to good. Pricing is not too far from the past.

Verdict: Go for the classics.
