Taiwan Street Food (December 2014) Fenjia Night Market 逢甲夜市

Taiwan is a land of many wonders.

Good food, good service and generally nice people. This is a short write up of Feng Jia night market where you can go to have street food on a good evening and thoroughly enjoy the process. Night markets are exactly what it sounds like, the place opens up in the evenings till late and have all kinds of stuff on sale.

The most famous is the Shilin night market located next to the Shilin MRT station and this is a close third or fourth. We were there in December and it was suitably cold weather which was perfect for strolls in the mornings and at night.

The entrance and the lively atmosphere will keep you entertained throughout.
Its seriously abuzz with lots of people, lots of food and lots of random stuff on sale.
This is fried squid and despite my reservations, was very tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Eat in moderation though cause it starts to get overwhelming pretty quickly.
This is actually cheese, pasta like tomato sauce and pork chop on rice. Decent but not mind blowing.

Can't go wrong with any milk tea from taiwan. Drink away.

The fried baby crabs. Salty, peppery and sweet all at the same time. Its not for everyone though.

There was a long queue for this but i only found the bear paw interesting on its design. The meat and all is nice but messy to eat.

So all in all, there's a lot of food to be had and you'll be spoilt for choice. Sometimes, one night is just not enough and you'll have to visit the same night market at least 2 or 3 nights sometimes as in the case of Xi Meng Ding.

Night markets are a great culture and it helps that the food there is of a certain standard most of the time. If you're there, enjoy yourself and eat more!
