Malacca and Jonker Walk
This trip was taken in December 2016 from 9th to 11th December 2017 over a weekend.
After a 4-5 hour long bus journey, we arrived in Malacca and checked into Hotel Equatorial. This hotel is known for its nice Nyonya lunch, central location and heritage site status.

The lobby is nicely decorated with a good feel for the upcoming festivities and features a pretty big Christmas Tree centerpiece. The best thing about the lounge are the numerous chairs you can just while away time on and most importantly, air conditioning! The weather in Malacca is blistering in the afternoons and having a place to hide away is bliss.
This is the 3rd time we've stayed in Equatorial and we were fortunate to be upgraded to the executive room with an added sofa seating next to the window. Rooms as usual, are big and clean enough. Air con was good and i like their free on-demand movie selection and unlimited wifi service.
The view from the window is nothing to shout about but you do get a view of most of the shopping malls, main hotels and the coast line in the distance.
The hotel is a straight walk to Jonker Street and surrounding tourist attractions. Typically, walking around 10-15 minutes get you to all the major attractions in town.
Jonker walk comes to life over the weekends and you'll be greeted with throngs of tourists in their weekend night market. The weather is generally kind in the evenings at a comfortable 25-26 degrees. The shops at Jonker walk offers street food, seafood, clothes, shoes, toys and assorted trinkets alongside open bars. The night market is similar to Taiwan night markets in its set up and crowded design.
