 Nestled in a corner of Simpang Bedok is this rather interesting looking Mee Pok stall which is packed during lunch hours. A quick read on their website shows that they have multiple outlets in Singapore and in Indonesia as well due to popular demands. Also, they have won many local accolades for fine culinary skill and television programs. 

Was here with my colleagues for a quick bite to continue a busy workday.

The place was already full by the time we arrived. The day was hot but the corner space is well ventilated and quite airy so it was quite comfortable.

Order Bib

Technology has been embraced for better productivity. The ordering experience is that you move to the counter, order your food and pay, then take a bib and sit to wait. Once the bib lights up, your order is ready and you'll need to go pick up the food from the counter on the right. Pretty good system to prevent confusion.

Mee Kia Medium Bowl ($5)

I ordered the Mee Kia because it didn't feel like a Mee Pok day and took the medium bowl as i was quite hungry. The serving size is rather small as you can see and can be finished rather quickly. 

The fishballs are springy and sweet. The pork slices are a little hard from cooking. The prawns are crunchy but looks a little to white to be fresh. Its also not sweet so the freshness is suspect. The fish cake are as good as the fish balls and the noodles were almost al dente. The mixture of ketchup, oyster sauce and soy sauce is spot on for flavor.

My colleagues were pretty happy with their meals but all commented on the portion size for the price.

Overall, the noodles and taste were there. Fish balls and cakes taste great. Prawns need work.  Portion size needs work.

Verdict: As it is now, its more of a try once meal. There are good things about it and it would be perfect if the portion i had was for $3.50 and not $5.
