They say when in Thailand, eat Soi 19 Wanton Noodles. And so me and my gang of foodies did during our trip there during the first 3 days of the near year. What greeted us first was of course, a long queue filled with tourists, mostly Singaporean it seems. Usually, that is a sign that this is going to be a disappointment. As we got closer to the store, this picture greeted us, no branch in Singapore. So there is a similar one in Singapore it seems which i didn't know at the time and i have recently tried it in my review here.
Braised pig trotters mixed with eggs and suan chai. This turned out surprisingly nice i must say. The braised sauce is fragrant, sweet and slightly salty and sourish. The meat is tender and without the strong "porky" taste while the suan cai was a good appetizer. Mostly, its the braised sauce that makes this dish.

For 100 baht ($4.50 SGD), the first thing that will strike you is how small the portion of noodles is when served. The pictures might not show it but the serving size is really really small. The noodles could likely be finished by a big eater like me in about 4-5 mouthfuls. Maybe even 3 mouthfuls if i stretch a bit. Having said that, we enjoyed the crab meat added to it which was sweet and fresh along with the equally soft and sweet char siew. The wantons however, are nothing to shout about in size and tasted as it should at this size. The noodles are pretty good though, tasting like a cross between traditional noodles and pasta. Its almost al dente in some spots but remained soft as most wanton noodles should.

Overall, i think the Thai noodles were pretty decent. What is served is little but of a certain quality when it comes down to it. Is it worth the hype? Maybe not. I'd say the place is overpriced given other cuisine you could enjoy in Thailand for the same price.

Verdict: Try if no queue but don't expect anything life changing
