11 Days in Eastern Australia - Sydney Day 5 Part 1

Sydney Fish Market - Quay Restaurant

By now i suppose you'll understand what going overseas with a foodie means. It simply means a lot more food and very little sight seeing if we're going to cities. And yeah, as i write about this trip, i realise a lot of what we do there are really all food adventures. So far, Sydney is consistently above average in the aspect and i am so in love with the food.

Our first foodie stop of the day is once again, Sydney Fish Market! I've already written about it before and you can find it here.

This round, we ordered a baked cheese lobster, baked scallops, raw sashimi scallops, oysters and uni. While we enjoyed this as much as our first visit, we found that the raw items are just much better.

Pro tip: Order the raw stuff and fish and chips!

After breakfast, we got back to the hotel and got prepped for our next food adventure at the star restaurant of our trip. Quay Restaurant by Chef Peter Gilmore.

What can i say about this meal?

Firstly, its a very pleasant experience with top notch service, a very friendly and nice environment by the Quay.

Pro tip 1: Check if the boats are docking during your reservation. Your view depends on it.

Food wise, there are lots of surprises in store which i would prefer not to spoil for most of you going to try it. The menu changes a little depending on the season and produce available so its never a boring experience.

We had the tasting menu at AUD 245 per person and added an additional order for the eight textured chocolate cake because i heard and read quite a bit about it. Each dish is like christmas in your mouth with surprisingly asian influences in some dishes which make it particularly appealing to me. Along the way, there is a free flow of homemade bread as well.

The standouts to me were the southern uni, steamed king george whiting, snow egg and the eight textured chocolate cake. All fantastic and should be experienced by all.

Pro tip 2: Clear half your day or the entire night for the meal. You'll want to take the time to savor the taste.

Will i return for another meal? Most likely but it'll have to be for a special occasion next round.

Once again, all meals are fully paid for ourselves and no sponsorships happened throughout our entire journey in Australia.
