11 Days in Eastern Australia - Sydney Day 2

11 Days in Eastern Australia - Sydney Day 2

Day 2 began with a quick trip down to the Sydney Train station at Town Hall Station located at Druitt Street and Bathurst Street. From our hotel, it was a 10-15 minute walk to the train station and we rushed there to get on one of the earlier trains to the Blue Mountains.

The train station is a nice mesh of modern and classic architecture. Clean and very spacious.
Get your Opal Card for the journey and you can keep it after too.
You can get more information on the Opal card here

We had the Bacon muffin from Hungry Jack's for breakfast. It tastes pretty much like what a Mcdonald's sausage and egg muffin would taste like but with bacon.
A quick hop in the very spacious train to Blue Mountains and get some rest since the journey is 2 hours.
Tip: With the long journey, chances are you won't get to enjoy much of the place or take in the sights as much as you'd like. Book an overnight stay at one of the hotels to be less stressed out by travel and enjoy the mountains a little longer.

Follow the signs and get to the nearest Blue Mountain Explorer Bus kiosk and book there or you can book online here with a variety of options. If you chose to stay longer, you can book the combo with more activities, but note that its only for one day so book wisely.

Be sure to try the cableway and the railway. The highlight for us was the extremely steep inclined railway which is a joy to ride on. The queues are reasonable most of the time, waiting time took around 10-15 minutes.

We had this at the cafe after the cable way. The churros is surprisingly good. Hot, crunchy and soft all in the right places.
After that, explore the mountains, take the path less traveled and enjoy the solace and peace. Take lots of nice pictures and enjoy the cool breeze and some wafts of eucalyptus which is what makes the Blue Mountains blue. There's a lot of ground to cover and you can just explore to your hearts content but do look out for falling rocks, unstable paths and tight spaces. If you get to a place that seems to require gear to pass, turn back.

Pancakes on the Rocks
Address: Shop 230 Harbourside Shopping Centre

For dinner we went to Harbourside Shopping Centre from the train station which was another 20 minutes walk and went for Pancakes on the Rocks. This was around 8.30pm because we left the Blue Mountains rather late.

For some reason, we ordered crepes to start and had both the crepe with seafood and the crepe with chicken and mushroom. In terms of value and taste, i'd recommend the chicken and mushroom crepe hands down with its good portion size and nice tender meat and mushroom combo. The seafood crepe was nice but really small, i finished it in 2 mouthfuls or so.
To end the meal, we went for the short stack because.....its pancakes on the rocks and how can you end without trying the pancakes?
For what its worth, it looks very appetising. The batter is cooked well and thorough. However, it was served medium warm and i prefer mine hot. Still, its fluffy in the right places and tastes just perfect with maple syrup.

With that, we ended the day with another walk around Darling Harbour in the evening and turned in the day.
