11 Days in Eastern Australia - Sydney Day 4

11 Days in Eastern Australia - Sydney Day 4

Little Vietnamese Food - Doyles on the Wharf- Gap Bluff - Bondi Beach - Danjee Korean BBQ

Day 4 began with a walk through the malls towards the harbour because we chose not to take the free transport. Why? You ask?
Its simple, we've had so much good food that exercise is now a necessity. So... walk it is.

Walking past and through Queen Victoria building is one of the things we did every single day in Sydney simply because the path from our hotel to everywhere basically cuts through this place. Its a nice place with great architecture for a shopping mall.  There were nice cafes and merchandise in it that was a little too expensive of us.

We popped by this little joint on our way to the harbor and its nothing exciting. It is a quick spot for a quick meal if you run out of other choices though.

A quick and simple ride on the harbor will take you to Watson's Bay Habor which is about 30-45 minutes away on the ferry.

Doyle's On the Wharf Take Away
Address:

Upon arriving at Watson's Bay, the first order of business would undoubtedly be food from  Doyle's. Famous for their fish and chips, its located directly on the place where you disembark from the ferry. Follow the crowd and seagulls to find the restaurant.

Order quickly and there'll be a a short waiting period before a piping hot serving for fish and chips will be available. Pro tip: eat in the restaurant if possible as the seagulls are relentless and we observed quite a few locals and tourists getting ripped off by seagulls for their food.

The serving size is generous and everything served tasted fresh. Springy calamari, thick, hot fries and some sweet tasting fish in a rather thin batter will get your taste buds rocking in short time.

The Gap Lookout
Address:

Bondi Beach
Address: New South Wales 2026

From the gap, we took a bus to Bondi Beach via buses 380, 381 and 382. Its a short 15 minute ride to Bondi Beach.

The beach is a breathtaking long stretch of flat land with nice white sands and absolutely nobody there when we went because it was so windy and so cold nobody in their right minds would be there except stupid tourists like us. Most of the shops were closed since they were not expecting many visitors that day. My wife could not stand the wind and we had to quickly vacate the place after less the 30 minutes.

We then just took bus 333 back to Circular Quay and back to the hotel because of my bad planning.

Pro tip: No beaches or wide open spaces near oceans in winter.
Danjee Korean BBQ Restaurant Sydney
Address: 1-7 Albion Pl, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
Website: http://www.danjee.com.au
Damage:  AUD 20-30 per head

 Free flow of side dishes
Hae Mul Soon Du Bu (AUD 19)
This is a spicy soup with tofu and assorted seafood. It was fantastic. Everything tasted as it should in korea. Its devilishly spicy, served hot and had a nice seafood flavor to bring it up. It was raining when we went for dinner and the comfort it provides with a bowl of hot rice is unbeatable.
 Bi Bim Bap (AUD 18)
The Bi Bim Bap is served in a steam bowl which is piping hot so you need to stir it the moment it is served to keep the rice hot, mix the ingredients and sauces for the perfect mix and to prevent it from being burnt. Its a fun experience.

There's a choice of beef, pork, chicken or tofu for this dish and my choice was pork which is very nicely marinated and tasted great individually or mixed with the rice and sauces. The greens keep the dish from being overwhelming and once again, hits the spot perfectly on a cold rainy night.

Overall, i enjoyed this dinner very much and will definitely return if i'm ever in Sydney again.

With that, our fourth day ended with a satisfying dinner.
